U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering (WCE) works with schools and organizations to expose students to engineering careers and opportunities. Through summer camps, events, school visits, and targeted recruiting for the WCE VIP Program, prospective engineering students are able to experience the problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity of engineering programs at FGCU.

Friday, April 29, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
Cohen Center Ballroom
2022 ProgramThe Obligation of the Engineer is a creed similar to the oath attributed to Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.), generally taken by medical graduates and which sets forth an ethical code. The Obligation likewise, contains parts of the Canon of Ethics of major engineering societies. Initiates voluntarily pledge to uphold the standards and dignity of the engineering profession and to serve humanity by making the best use of Earth’s precious wealth. Accepting this responsibility is a formal way of accepting a calling to the profession. Those who accept this responsibility are presented with a stainless-steel ring to wear as a constant reminder of the commitment they have made.
