EMAIL WCE ADVISING

If you are a First-Time in College Student (meaning you have never enrolled in college full-time since high school graduation), you should seek advising support from Exploratory Advising. If you are not a WCE major or minor, please contact the advising center for your college.

Advisors in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering are assigned based on the first letter of a student's last name. Please note that new first-time in college students (those entering their first year a full-time college enrollment post high school) will be advised by Exploratory Advising, and as such, will be assigned an advisor in that area.

Arriving for an In-Person Appointment

If you scheduled your appointment to occur in person, then you'll want to arrive at our office suite at least 5-minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Once you arrive at Holmes Hall make your way to the second floor. Our office is located in Suite 207, and you will see a sign on a pedestal located outside our door. Once you've arrived, you can have a seat on the bench outside the suite door, and an advisor will come to get you shortly. If it is Wednesday and you are doing a drop-in appointment, you'll need to scan the QR code on the pedestal to join our queue.

Attending a Virtual Meeting

If you requested a virtual meeting, it will occur through Microsoft Teams. For a Microsoft Teams you will want to download the application to your computer or mobile device and log-in using your FGCU credentials. FGCU's IT Services department has created a helpful websitewith more instructions on accessing Microsoft Teams. Please be logged in to your teams profile at the time of your appointment, and we will call you on the platform. In some instances, we may send you an email invite with a link to join your meeting.

Phone Meetings

In general, phone meetings are our least preferred method of conducting an appointment. If you have a few quick questions, then they can be effective; however, any meeting in which registration or course sequencing is being discussed is better conducted in a format where you can see our computer screen. If you do elect a phone meeting, then you will need to provide a phone number during your appointment booking process, and we will call you at the number provided at the time of your appointment. Please note that we will NOT conduct the appointment if you are driving when we call you.
