FGCU launches taskforce on values
May 06, 2025
As FGCU continues to strengthen its organizational culture and commitment to employees, it is important to hear from all staff and faculty on workplace experiences. In order to do this, FGCU gathered data from the “Great Colleges to Work For” survey and launched a steering committee to the Taskforce on Values. The taskforce is an advisory group that will focus on defining, through campus engagement efforts, the behaviors we expect of ourselves and one another as members of the FGCU community.
The goal is to achieve campus-wide agreement on a maximum of five values and descriptions for each. These values will govern the behavior of employees and will be unique to working at FGCU. Each value will be one word and reflect what we want our workplace culture to look like.
“Having shared agreement across the campus about how we work together will pull us together across our different divisions, colleges and departments, and give us a shared framework to hold each other accountable,” said Kitty Green, vice president of Advancement. Green is leading the steering committee to support the taskforce and further define FGCU’s values.
Throughout May, listening sessions will occur around campus at college, school, divisional, shared governance and department meetings. Employees will have the opportunity to attend these sessions and share their input on FGCU’s values. To view upcoming sessions for your area, visit fgcu.edu/employee-experience.
From May through June, the committee will use the feedback collected at the sessions and work with the taskforce to help define those values. It will then be discussed with focus groups during the summer. If you are interested in being part of a focus group to review and give feedback on the draft values, use the values feedback form under the “Taskforce on FGCU Values” tab to sign up.
Once finalized, FGCU’s values will be announced during the 2025 Fall Welcome Celebration on Aug. 11.
