*All of South Village has Twin XL-size beds.

Refrigerator and Microwave Information:

Refrigerators and microwave ovens are permitted in the residence halls with the following conditions. Refrigerators are restricted to a maximum size of 5 cubic feet (mini-fridge) and microwave ovens are restricted to no more than 1000 watts. Students are allowed to have their own microwave and mini-fridge in their personal bedroom or they may share one in the common area with their roommate. The common areas in Biscayne, Everglades and Palmetto Halls have one designated outlet for a microwave/mini-fridge combination. The outlet is located in the entry foyer of each suite. We recommend that you speak with your roommate and purchase a microwave and minifridge combination that only requires one plug to operate both appliances. 

*Optional for SoVi residents: A community kitchen is available for residents who choose to use it; however, items cannot be stored in the kitchen. Please plan accordingly.

Fees can be paid all at once or in four equal installments over the course of the semester.  Fall and spring rental fees are posted to Gulfline in July and December respectively. Rental fees are broken into 4 installments. Fall installments are due 8/1, 9/1, 10/1 and 11/1. Spring installments are due 1/2, 2/1, 3/1 and 4/1. Students have the option of paying in full or in accordance with the installment due date schedule. Please note, each late installment payment is subject to a $25.00 late fee. Furthermore, a $100.00 late fee will be assessed to all students whose rental fees are not paid in full by the final installment due date.   Financial aid and Florida Pre-Paid funds can be applied to on-campus housing.

Decals distributed to Student Housing residents must be fully affixed from the inside, mid-way down the driver’s corner of the front windshield.  If it is NOT fully affixed to the windshield you will be cited for improper placement of the permit.  Student decal and permit costs are included in the per credit hour tuition. 

All students who live on campus are assigned a mailbox located in the Ackert Community Center building in North Lake Village, in the main lobbies of each Residence Hall in South Village and adjacent to the Community Center in West Lake Village. You will receive your mailbox key at move-in.

The University is insured under the State of Florida's self-insurance trust fund that only provides liability for damages or injuries caused by negligence on the part of the University or its employees while working within the scope of their employment. The trust fund will not reimburse for losses created by unforeseen accidents/injuries that may occur. Students are encouraged to secure their own health and personal property loss insurance.

Housing & Residence Life (HRL) recognizes residents may have extenuating circumstances in which a request to arrive to on-campus housing outside of the Housing Agreement dates could be needed. While individual requests outside of normal Housing Agreement dates are not always approved, HRL will review each request submitted by the established deadlines. This process is offered as a convenience to eligible residents and is not guaranteed.

Residents with a confirmed Fall 2025 housing assignment can request an early arrival (typically no more than 72 hours prior to published check-in dates).

Expectations

Residents approved to reside on campus outside of the Housing Agreement dates accept the following:

• Residents may not be able to reside in their assigned space and may have to reside in a temporary space until check-in.
• Services including custodial services, dining services, residence hall offices, front desk services and mail delivery may not be available.
• Due to ongoing preparation of the facilities, it is possible that University Housing staff and vendors contracted by the University to perform certain functions (i.e. - housekeeping, maintenance, repairs, etc.) will enter your unit without prior notification.
• Residents may not allow others who have not been previously authorized for early arrival, including guests and roommate(s), to occupy residence hall space. Unapproved individuals will be asked to leave the building and may be billed for dates in residence.
• All policies and procedures outlined in the HRL Community Guidebook and FGCU Code of Conduct are applicable during times outside of the regular Housing Agreement dates.

Costs Associated with Requests

Residents are assessed a $28 nightly charge for their early arrival. All charges will be posted on the Bill & Payment Center.

Early arrival forms must be submitted by 11:59 PM on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Request decisions will be sent via email to the resident’s FGCU email address, typically within 2 business days.

If a request is canceled after approval, a $100.00 cancellation fee will be placed on the student's University account.

On move-in days, parking permits are not required, so your family and friends can come to carry all your heavy belongings. Please do not park on sidewalks, in the grass or in accessible spaces. 

• North Lake Village: Follow the signs for the check-in location. You may park in any unreserved parking space. Once you have checked in and have your key, you will proceed to your assigned building to unload your belongings.  Please do not park in the roadways, grass or reserved parking spaces.
  • Fall term: Check-in will occur at The Boardwalk Restaurant. If you are checking in during open check-in you will check-in at the Ackert Community Center. 
  • Spring term: Check-in will occur at the Ackert Community Center front desk.
• South Village: Enter the University through the main entrance and follow the signage.
  • Fall term: You will then be directed to the South Village residential area where you are allotted 90 minutes to unload your vehicle. At the end of your designated unloading time, you will move your vehicle to Garage Two. Housing and Residence Life will provide shuttle buses between Garage Two and the South Village residential area throughout the day. 
  • Spring term: Check-in at your building front desk. You may park in any unreserved spot for unloading.
• West Lake Village: Follow the signs for the check-in location at the West Lake Village Community Center. Once you have checked in and have your key you will proceed to your assigned building to unload your belongings. Parking is limited, so please limit the number of vehicles you bring to move-in.

Living on campus can be one of the many highlights of your college experience. Housing and Residence Life focuses on assisting residents with a successful transition into the FGCU residential, campus and surrounding local communities. While living on-campus, you will learn to balance individual freedom with community responsibility and to respect and appreciate individual differences.

As a member of the residential community, you have a responsibility to yourself and to the rest of the community. Students living on-campus are presented with daily opportunities to make choices that impact their health and safety and the safety of those around them. It is the responsibility of all residential students to make the residence halls and campus a safe and healthy place to live. Students are encouraged to demonstrate respect for themselves and others as well as to take responsibility for their own actions. We have provided links to both the Community Guidebook and the Student Code of Conduct.  Please take some time to visit both pages so that you are familiar with the university’s expectations of you during your tenure at Florida Gulf Coast University.

In order to check out your room key, you will need your FGCU ID or another photo ID. You must be present to receive your room key; a friend or family member may NOT check out a key for a resident.

On move-in day it is very helpful to bring a dolly or hand truck as it is difficult to park very close to the buildings. Additionally, we suggest you dress comfortably and bring water as it is quite hot here in Florida.

Should you find anything not working or in need of repair in your room/apartment upon move-in, you must complete a maintenance request paper work order form. Paper forms will be located at the front desk of each area during move in weekend and starting the first day of classes, work orders should be submitted via the Housing Web Portal. Please note, we are able to respond more quickly when you provide a specific location and a detailed description of the problem.

If the reception desks are closed, residents should contact the Resident Assistant (RA) on call. RA on-call phone numbers are posted on their bulletin boards.

You are responsible for cleaning your room or apartment and taking out your own trash and recycling on a regular basis. If you share a room or apartment, you are responsible for cleaning your part, and you and your roommate(s) are jointly responsible for cleaning common areas. University custodial services are responsible for routine cleaning of public areas, such as hallways, stairwells, public bathrooms and lounges. Hallways and stairwells must be kept free of personal belongings that could impede the ability of the custodial staff to maintain these areas.

Meet your RA
Resident Assistants are specially selected and trained upperclassmen who live on your floor or in your building. The role of the RA is to be a community facilitator for the students living on campus at FGCU. RAs do this through answering your many questions about housing or the University, spending time getting to know you and your interests and by offering planned events and activities that are both fun and educational. The RA has information to help solve your housing problems, knows what resources are available to you, and has experience with the academic system here at FGCU. The RAs are also responsible for administering and enforcing housing and university policies. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to contact your RA.

Your RA will be around during move-in and will probably stop by to meet you. Get to know your RA so that you are familiar with the person who can help you in your transition to living on campus. You will also see your RA at your first floor or building meeting.

Meet Your Neighbors

The first week or two after move-in is the best time to meet your neighbors on your floor, in your building or in your community. You may not be coming to FGCU with a huge group of friends and you are probably looking forward to making new friends and meeting new people.

Remember that there are many other people looking to meet their neighbors, so don't be shy in introducing yourself to the people around you. It may be more comfortable to stay in your room and talk with your friends from back home on your cell phone but it is really important to get out of your room and make friends and get to know those around you.

Your RA will host a building or floor meeting soon after you arrive.  At the meeting you will cover policies and procedures and will also have the opportunity to get to know your neighbors. Make sure you attend this meeting as it is mandatory and a lot of important information will be covered. Check with your RA for the date and time.

How Summer Storage & Moving Works at Florida Gulf Coast University:

1. Pack & Lock - After receiving our free packing supplies, pack your belongings, lock everything in your room, and leave at your convenience.
2. Pick-Up & Store - After exams, your school provides our student team access to your room, so we can transport and store your items in a local, secure, and temperature-controlled facility.
3. Delivery - Your belongings will be delivered to your new room on campus the week before classes start or we’ll deliver off campus on your preferred date.
4. Shipping - We can ship boxes home for the summer, or to your first apartment a few months after graduation (optional).

Residents should checkout of their assigned space 24 hours after their last exam or by the published checkout date/time; whichever is sooner.

To have a successful checkout, you must:

• Schedule a specific checkout inspection time using the link provided via Eagle email - typically sent in late November (Fall checkout) or early April (Spring checkout). ***If you are checking out prior to the end of your Housing Agreement, a checkout inspection can be scheduled with your RA at anytime during the year.

• Remove all personal items from the apartment/suite.

• Take out your trash.

• Empty your refrigerator 

• Set your thermostat to 72.

• Complete a checkout inspection with an RA via the front desk.

• Turn in your keys.

• Any items left behind will be considered abandoned property and discarded. 

Only students with a Confirmed Summer A or C Housing Assignment may have a bike on campus after Spring Graduation. Remember to pick up a bike ribbon at Summer Check-in. 

Make sure to clean out your mailbox as FGCU will NOT forward mail. USPS provides mail forwarding.

• All policies and procedures outlined in the HRL Community Guidebook and FGCU Code of Conduct are applicable during times outside of the regular Housing Agreement dates.

Costs Associated with Requests

Late departure applications must be submitted at least 14 calendar days prior to the published checkout date for the term (April 18, 2025 for Spring 2025 requests). Late departure requests are not available for Summer terms.

Request decisions will be sent via email to the resident’s FGCU email address, typically within 2 business days.

If a request is cancelled after approval, a $100.00 cancellation fee will be placed on the student's University account.

Historically, students have been required to vacate campus housing between the end of the Summer B term and the start of the Fall term. However, due to increased interest, we are pleased to offer a limited opportunity for students to remain in campus housing during this break period.

Eligibility

Residents with a confirmed Summer B housing assignment and a confirmed Fall 2025 housing assignment can request to move to their Fall 2025 assignment at the conclusion of the summer term.

Expectations

Residents approved to reside on campus outside of the Housing Agreement dates accept the following:

• Students will be required to move on either Saturday, August 2 or Wednesday, August 6. Students will be notified on July 11 which date they will need to move. Until students are provided with a move date, students should ensure their availability for both dates.
• Residents must hang an “Occupied” sign on the outer door of their suite/apartment for the duration of the break housing.
• Housing and Residence Life is not responsible for student’s belongings and will not provide moving assistance
• Services including custodial services, dining services, residence hall offices, front desk services and mail delivery may not be available.
• Due to ongoing preparation of the facilities, it is possible that University Housing staff and vendors contracted by the University to perform certain functions (i.e. - housekeeping, maintenance, repairs, etc.) will enter your unit without prior notification.
• Residents may not allow others who have not been previously authorized to move from summer to fall, including guests and roommate(s), to occupy residence hall space. Unapproved individuals will be asked to leave the building and may be billed for dates in residence.
• All policies and procedures outlined in the HRL Community Guidebook and FGCU Code of Conduct are applicable during times outside of the regular Housing Agreement dates.

Costs Associated with Requests

• Residents are assessed a $336 flat rate non-refundable fee for break housing. All charges will be posted on the Bill & Payment Center after the Fall semester starts.
• To request break housing, you must apply through the Housing Web Portal. The link to this form can be found under 'Resident Resources' and then 'Summer to Fall Request Form'. You must agree to the associated terms and conditions.
