FGCU Initiative Teaches Autistic Adults to Play Golf

FGCU’s PGA Golf Management and Occupational Therapy Programs have joined forces to help adults with autism learn to play golf. In conjunction with the Community Autism Network at FGCU, students taught adults with autism basic golf skills while simultaneously building confidence and social skills. PGA students also got to try out new technology to measure improvement among the golfers.

Lutgert Students answer call for Voluntary Income Tax Assistance

When tax season comes around in Southwest Florida, Accounting and other Lutgert business majors volunteer their time and knowledge to help low-income, disabled, and non-English speakers file their income tax returns. To align with social distancing and other COVID safety restrictions, this year’s Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program was conducted predominantly via 19 designated drive-through sites in Lee, Hendry, Glades, Okeechobee, and Charlotte counties.

Klaudia Fisheku Named Lutgert Graduate Student of the Year 2021

Each spring the Lutgert College of Business honors one outstanding graduate student from among its four masters programs. The Graduate Student of the Year Award recognizes overall excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service to the university and to the community. This year’s honor goes to Klaudia Fisheku, a Master’s in Information Systems & Analytics candidate who earned her degree in May.

With more than 3,000 business majors in a college known for producing leaders, earning the designate of Outstanding Student is no small accomplishment! This year’s honor goes to Peter Mitchell.
