First Year Experience

Eagles Excel in Academic Research is a program designed for first year students who want to dive into research initiatives during their collegiate career.

Eagles Excel in Anatomy and Physiology is a support program designed for students majoring in science or health-related fields. It helps students build a strong foundation in these demanding subjects while connecting with peers on similar academic paths.

Eagles Excel in Biology is a program available to all science majors that will be required to complete General Biology I and/or General Biology II to complete their program. These introductory courses are considered extremely challenging and can lead to a difficult start in college. The program has proven to increase student performance throughout their time at FGCU and increases the likelihood of graduating in four years. It is a great way to meet other science majors that will likely be in some of your classes with you. 

What to expect: 

Eagles Excel in Business is designed for students planning to major in one of the ten programs housed within the Lutgert College of Business.  Meet some faculty and staff, learn your way around the building, and engage in fun, interactive activities that teach practical business skills and tips for how to be successful in the business curriculum.

Eagles Excel in Chemistry was designed for students who will be required to take Chemistry. This program will assist students by getting a head start on the topic, learning more about the class, and meeting staff and students before the course even begins.

• Meet chemistry faculty

Eagles Excel in College Algebra is a program made for students who need a little boost in their math skills. By attending this program, students will experience practice lectures, notes, homework and a mock exam to prepare for the real deal. Incentives will be included for those who participate. 

Eagles Excel in Economics offered by the Department of Economics & Finance is available to all students

What to expect: 

Eagles Excel in Education is designed for students who want to immerse themselves in the College of Education (COE) before their first semester even begins. Students will get connected to faculty in the COE and learn what it takes to become a future educator. The program will provide support to students through fun, engaging, and hands-on learning experiences both on-campus and on-site at a local school.

Eagles Excel in Engineering, Computing, and Construction is an opportunity for students to connect with the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering (WCE), learn essential scheduling skills, and meet some of their professors, all before the first day of the semester. Get a head start on your journey to becoming a future leader in the engineering, computing, and construction fields by learning about all the resources WCE has to offer!

Eagles Excel in Exercise Science/Exercise is Medicine will learn more about the Exercise Science program pathway, prerequisites needed, and learn more about the overall program. 

First-Generation Students Excel is a two day experience specifically designed for first-generation students. Being a first-generation (first-gen) student means that your parent(s) did not complete a four-year college degree in the United States.  If you are a first-gen, this is the perfect way to kick off your FGCU experience! You will be connected with important campus resources and involvement opportunities, and meet other new students, faculty, and staff. This combination program will be fun, informative, and supportive of your transition to college.  

Eagles Excel in Intermediate Algebra is a program designed for students to help them increase their math skills and promote success within the first year. We understand math can be a difficult concept and want to provide support. This program provides practice skills and tips to start the semester off strong. 

Eagles Excel in Psychology will submerse Psych majors into the reality of what opportunities and experiences are available for those interested in Psych.
