Marine Science Summer Camp

Vester Marine Science Summer Camp

city background

Hands-on Activities: Campers will spend five days in the classroom, laboratory, and field learning about one of the most diverse and productive ecosystems in the world. Led by our staff of FGCU students, campers will conduct water quality testing, restore mangroves, identify beach erosion, and join the next generation of scientists!

Outdoor Excursions: Daily boat outings and beach trips are a mainstay of our program, allowing the campers to immerse themselves in nature while conducting fieldwork. Campers will have the opportunity to catch and identify fishes and other marine life, profile a beach for evidence of erosion, track currents and conduct water quality testing in various parts of Estero Bay, and be a part of many other scientific field experiences that help keep our ecosystems healthy!

While in the field, safety is our number one goal. Staying hydrated is an absolute necessity, and life jackets will be provided and required while on the water.

Environmental Education: Biology, chemistry, geology, and ecology are just a few facets of marine science that we will explore with the goal of inspiring a passion for the environment and its conservation.”
