Anatomical Sciences

The overarching philosophy of the anatomy and physiology team is to cultivate a challenging yet successful learner-centered environment that builds student confidence and foundational knowledge through critical thinking and problem-based learning.   

Our anatomy and physiology instructors come from diverse medical and professional backgrounds, including urology, gynecology, chiropractic, physical therapy, and biological anthropology. This diversity allows us to incorporate real-world examples into the classroom. By utilizing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Science of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), our team creates a flexible classroom that accommodates a wide range of learning styles and needs.  We utilize structured and engaging active learning strategies, such as a flipped classroom model, to enhance student engagement and develop the interpersonal communication skills necessary for future health professionals. 

Our goal is to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in their anatomy and physiology courses, as well as throughout their academic and professional careers. We aim to teach students not only how to study but also how to understand “the why” behind human structure and function.
