Dear Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Students,

On behalf of the entire University Police Department, I would like to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to both new and returning students.

As Chief of Police, I want to assure you that your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment where you can focus on your education, explore your interests, and grow as individuals. I encourage you to take advantage of the resources and support services available. Whether it is campus security, counseling services, or student organizations, we have a robust support system in place. Do not hesitate to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns or need assistance – our team is here to help you succeed in every way possible.

We strive to surpass your highest expectations, but your partnership and participation is necessary. This is also your home so please assist us in making it as safe and friendly as possible by doing the following:

• Lock your doors.
• Remove valuables from your vehicle.
• Obey traffic laws.
• Utilize the shuttle service or request our after-hours escort service if traveling alone.
• Drive cautiously and defensively.
• Act responsibly and be respectful to others.
• Be aware of your surroundings – situational awareness.
