At the 99th Annual NCA Conference in Washington, D. C., I presented at a GIFTS (Great Ideas for Teaching Students) panel where I was able to share my practice of Vision Boarding with colleagues from across the country.

At the panel, which was set up like a “speed-dating” session where each presenter had the opportunity to present to about 8 participants for 10 rounds of 10 minute presentations, I briefly described the practice of vision boarding which essentially helps students to become aware of their goals and desires in an artistic way. I explained to the participants how vision boards could be used in a variety of communication courses including Intrapersonal Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and how it can be applied to several communication theories including Johari Window and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
