School of Behavioral Health & Social Services

School of Behavioral Health & Social Services

The School of Behavioral Health and Social Services is FGCU’s premier multidisciplinary hub for addressing the psychological and social complexities of the human experience. We create a unified ecosystem of care by bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world impact.

Home to Marieb College Health & Human Services' Counseling and Social Work programs, the School also houses FGCU's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), the primary source of on-campus mental health support and therapy services for all students.

Our Integrated Pillars of Excellence

Academic Excellence & Workforce Development

Through our Counseling Program and Social Work Program, we prepare the next generation of practitioners and leaders for the full spectrum of human services. Our graduates are trained to lead in:

  • Clinical Therapy: Providing evidence-based behavioral health interventions.
  • Care Coordination: Mastering community-based case management to ensure continuity of care.
  • Systemic Advocacy: Shaping policy and social systems to foster resilience throughout Southwest Florida.

Clinical Training & Community Impact

The Community Counseling and Education Center (CCEC) serves as our school’s premier clinical training facility. This center provides a vital bridge between the classroom and the field:

  • Professional Internships: Providing Counseling students with rigorous, supervised internship experiences.
  • Public Service: Offering accessible, high-quality counseling and educational services directly to the Southwest Florida community.

Student Success & On-Campus Wellness

We believe that emotional well-being is the foundation of academic achievement. Through Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), we provide dedicated support for our own university community:

  • Direct Student Support: Professional, confidential clinical services for the FGCU student body.
  • Wellness Resources: Empowering students with the psychological tools needed to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
