Transient and Non-Degree Registration

Incoming Students

Transient Students - FloridaShines

Students enrolled at a Florida public college or university can enroll at FGCU as a non-degree seeking transient student on a term-by-term basisCredits earned will transfer back to your home institution. 

Admission Process 

To seek admission as a transient student, complete and submit the FloridaShines Transient Student Admissions Application.   

Upon approval from your home institution, your application will be sent electronically to FGCU for final approval.  Please allow 7-10 business days for processing.   

When your application has been processed you will receive an email containing your FGCU university ID (UIN) and information on how to activate your account, get your Eagle ID and parking pass.

Registration 

Registration begins for transient students each term on the date listed for general non-degree registration as indicated on the Academic Calendar and the Eagle Priority Registration page.

Transient students can only register for the approved course(s) listed on the application.

Non-Degree Seeking Students 

Students not currently enrolled at a Florida public college or university who want to take classes but not enroll in a degree program can enroll as a non-degree seeking student.  

Admissions Process 

Information for applying as a non-degree student can be found on the Non-Degree Student Admissions page. 

If you are a Florida resident aged 60 years or older, you can enroll through the Senior Citizen Non-Degree program which allows you to take classes tuition-free on an audit basis.  Information about this program, as well as registration procedures, can be found here.   

Registration Process 

Registration begins each term on the date listed for general non-degree registration.  This date can be found on the academic calendar or on the Eagle Priority Registration page.

Transferring Credit to Home Institution 

Florida Gulf Coast University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide official transcript online ordering. You can order transcripts with any major credit or debit card using three different delivery options; .pdf, mail, or pick up.

FGCU students seeking to enroll as a transient student at another Florida public university should first discuss with their academic advisor, then complete the FloridaShines Transient Student Admissions Application.  Allow 7-10 business days for processing.  Additional information about the application process can be found on the FloridaShines webpage.   

Please note that any FGCU holds that prevent registration will prevent your application from being processed.  Refer to Gulfline to check your account for holds.   

Be sure to check the host school’s academic calendar for registration and academic dates as they might differ from FGCU’s dates.

Other Outgoing Students 

FGCU students interested in enrolling as a non-degree student at a Florida private or non-Florida institution should first discuss with their academic advisor to determine what coursework will transfer. 

Refer to the host institution’s admissions and registration processes to learn how to enroll and take classes.
