Program Overview

FGCU student writing on a chalkboardFor students who seek increasingly responsible roles in higher education or leadership positions with smaller schools such as charter schools or academies, FGCU's M.A. in Educational Leadership is a degree that can make all the difference in your career. Our reputation in Southwest Florida is exceptional, having forged deep ties within our five-district community. This has earned us a 90%-plus graduate employment rate among Educational Leadership graduates - one of the highest in the state.

We are also one of the most affordable master's programs in Florida, delivering unmatched value for those seeking to move into roles such as:

  • Higher education administrative positions (director, dean, provost, president)
  • Educational and training positions in business, healthcare, public service.

The M.A. in Educational Leadership program is for students not seeking Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) certification.  Students with this degree typically work in educational or training divisions in businesses, healthcare, public service, Pre-K-12, or higher education. This program is composed of the program core, plus 18 hours of focus area courses (Pre-K-12 and/or higher education track) and 9 elective credits in the student's area of interest.  Regardless of choice of electives, all programs of study must be approved by faculty advisors. The electives may be taken from inside or outside the College of Education.
