Strategies for Developing Successful Grant Proposals

August 14, 2023

The Lucas Center, in collaboration with the Offices of the President & Provost, invite you to:

Strategies for Developing Successful Grant Proposals
Facilitated by Dr. Madeleine Kahn

Both sessions will be held in the Lucas Center (LIB-221).
All are welcome to attend either session, regardless of level of experience.

Beginner Session: Monday, January 29th from 11:30a-12:30p

In this workshop Dr. Kahn will present practical strategies that will help you seek out funding opportunities, develop persuasive grant proposals, and reuse proposal narratives you develop in other areas of your work. If time permits, we will collaborate to refine some proposal concepts together. This workshop is most appropriate for those researchers who have little experience submitting grant proposals.

Advanced Session: Thursday, February 1st from 12:30p-1:30p

In this workshop, most useful for those who have already received grant funding, Dr. Kahn will suggest ways to think more holistically about building capacity through the proposals you submit, with an eye to stacking funding and establishing partnerships that will enable you to pursue larger funding opportunities.

Madeleine Kahn PhD led the process of developing FGCU's successful proposal to the EDA's Good Jobs Challenge, resulting in $23M in funding for FGCU and FutureMakers to align workforce training with employers' commitments to hire, growing the economy of SWFL and providing training, support, and jobs for the talent that lives here. She continues to work with FGCU to develop new funding strategies and proposals, including the recent $2M award from the Department of Labor to develop supply chain badges in FGCU's Lutgert College of Business.
