Dominique and Dr. Sinclair

How did your mentor(s) encourage and foster your research and academic trajectory?

Dr. Sinclair has been a constant support for me in my academic career. She’s not only been a wonderful professor, but she also pushes her students to do more and constantly encourages growth and learning, whether it’s writing a recommendation or connecting me with different opportunities based on my interest. She also has taught me a lot about the intricacies of research, and how to properly analyze and interpret data. She also gives me a lot of advice regarding my future career and has exposed me to different fields in Neuroscience. I am grateful for having such an amazing professor like Dr. Sinclair, and I’m excited to work with her more in the future.

What does the OCF mean to you?

I was nervous when I first came to the OCF, but I was instantly welcomed by students and faculty alike. Through the intense meetings and the shared stress, I’ve found a supportive community I wasn’t expecting. The OCF introduced me to not only some wonderful students but also some wonderful faculty who spend their time and energy providing students with all the opportunities specific to their career choices and dreams. I wouldn’t be where I am in my academic career without the help I have received in this office. I am thankful for all that they do, and I can’t wait to work with the office in the upcoming years!
