Design Your Path to an Innovative Career

Entrepreneurship Major Sean DeRossett started his business Keyrift

FGCU’s B.S. in Entrepreneurship provides students with a comprehensive set of skills to create and lead new ventures or acquire jobs in established companies. Businesses recruit entrepreneurship students because of their eagerness to take initiative and see opportunities where others only see problems. The learning environment is both applied and experiential. Students regularly interact with both retired and active business owners.

Upon graduation, students have multiple options available to them. This is because we encourage students to start their own companies during their undergraduate coursework and allow them to work on those businesses in our classes daily. Many of the students graduating with the B.S. in Entrepreneurship move directly into managing their own businesses full-time.

Sean DeRossett (’21) was recognized by the faculty as the entrepreneurship student of the year in 2021. His new product Keyrift makes learning the piano easy and fun. Sean reflected on his time as a student and said, “every class in the entrepreneurship program is such a joy to take. The curriculum is specifically tailored towards building the skill set that a student needs to be successful.”

Entrepreneurship Major Julianna Bergamotto

Juliana Bergamotto ('21) graduated in three years and plans to pursue a master's degree at the University of Florida. Following graduation, she was hired for a full-time position in human resources at WebMD. She said, "the entrepreneurship program is spectacular. The professors truly care about their students and provide them with excellent resources and knowledge about business."

In addition to tech companies such as WebMD, several businesses across Florida, including Pyure Brands and Tamiami Angel Funds, currently recruit Entrepreneurship students for their creative problem-solving skills.

All of our coursework is experiential in nature, which means that students actively practice the skills necessary to succeed as an entrepreneur. Instead of taking tests to show knowledge, our students are tasked with a project-based curriculum that allows for entrepreneurial skill development and confidence building. These projects allow students to develop new business ideas, grow existing business ideas, and develop top-quality resume building skills that impress prospective employers upon graduation.
