As a social work major, working as an Office Assistant in Service-Learning and Civic Engagement allowed me to gain more insight into what resources our community in Southwest Florida has to offer. Service-Learning is a major part of our university, and I am glad I was able to learn more about the impact it has on our students as well as our community. Working in Service-Learning put me ahead in finding my internship, allowed me to make an impact through the Panhellenic Association, and provided me with constant support from staff in the office.”
Being a student assistant at the FGCU Service Learning Office helped me grow academically and improved my experience at FGCU. Faculty and staff encouraged networking and involvement that furthered my academic and personal growth. Being a Guided Trip leader allowed me to connect with non-profit organizations in the community that align with my values, which encouraged me to continue my commitment to service.
