Advance your career with FGCU’s fully online M.A. in Learning Design & Technology, a 30-credit graduate program built for educators, trainers, instructional designers, and learning professionals who want to design effective learning experiences across K–12, higher education, corporate, nonprofit, government, and informal learning settings.

  • Fully online: Complete the 30-credit program through flexible online coursework designed for working professionals.
  • Year-round enrollment: Start your journey at the beginning of the fall, spring, or summer semester--whichever suits you best.
  • Flexible course schedule: Complete coursework through accelerated online courses, with 8-week courses offered in fall and spring and 6-week courses offered in summer.
  • In-state tuition: Out-of-state students are eligible for an in-state tuition waiver.
  • Practical design and technology skills: Develop skills through applied projects connected to real learning design challenges in visual media, interactive learning tools, Universal Design for Learning, instructional program analysis, and digital learning environments.

Program Overview

The fully online M.A. in Learning Design & Technology is designed for individuals seeking to advance their skills in designing and implementing innovative learning experiences across various settings. This fully online program equips graduates with the skills necessary to excel in fields such as learning and development, instructional design, instructional technology, digital learning, and applied research. Graduates are well-prepared for roles in educational institutions, corporate settings, and non-traditional learning environments such as museums and libraries. The 30-credit program consists of 21 required credits, and 9 restricted elective credits.

The field continues to offer strong opportunities, particularly in learning and development. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment for training and development specialists to grow 11% from 2024 to 2034, much faster than the average for all occupations, with almost 44,000 openings each year.
