Important Update: Transition from ePortfolios & Portfolium/Folio to Canvas Portfolio

April 06, 2026  / Digital Learning  / Tags: Canvas Updates, Canvas, Portfolium

There is an important change upcoming in Canvas. Canvas will discontinue both ePortfolios and Portfolium/Folio on June 30, 2026.

To support your ongoing academic and professional portfolio needs, Canvas Portfolio is now available as the replacement tool. Canvas Portfolio offers enhanced functionality, a modern interface, and improved usability to help you create, showcase, and share your work more effectively.

What You Need to Know

  • Portfolium and ePortfolio will remain available until June 30, 2026.
  • After this date, both tools will be fully retired and no longer available.
  • Canvas Portfolio is the replacement and is already liveWe encourage you to begin exploring it as soon as possible.

How to Archive Your Existing ePortfolio

Canvas does not offer a dedicated “archive” solution for ePortfolios, but you can save your content by downloading it as a ZIP file. To archive your ePortfolio as a ZIP file:

  1. Navigate to ePortfolios in Canvas.
  2. Select the ePortfolio you wish to archive.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Click “Download the contents of this ePortfolio as a ZIP file.”
  5. The entire ePortfolio will be compressed into a ZIP file and saved to your computer.

We strongly recommend archiving your ePortfolios well before June 30, 2026 to ensure your materials are preserved.

Next Steps

To ensure a smooth transition, we recommend beginning your migration to Canvas Portfolio early and taking advantage of its enhanced features well ahead of June 30, 2026.
