Sept. 27, 2022 | FGCU is canceling all classes and non-essential campus activities Thursday and Friday. FGCU leaders will evaluate methods for students to make up for lost instructional time, which will likely include the use of planned study dates as regular academic class. Critical Theory Minor

The Critical Theory Minor is an interdisciplinary 12-credit hour program focusing on reflective and critical engagement with contemporary culture and society drawing on methodologies in literary theory, history, political philosophy, and the social sciences.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must meet with a college advisor to declare a minor and review the course requirements.
  • A grade of C or higher is required for all courses in the minor.
  • A minimum of 12 credit hours of the minor must be completed at FGCU.
  • Students desiring certification of a minor and designation on their academic transcript must verify that the minor is displayed on their Graduation Application.

Complete one of the following (3 hours):

  • COM 3343 Rhetorical Criticism (3)
  • LIT 3144 Modern European Novel (3)
  • LIT 4213 Literary Theory (3)
  • LIT 4353 Ethnic Studies (3)

  • LIT 4934 Advanced Topics in Crit Theory (3)

Complete one of the following (3 hours):
