Advance Book Purchasing for Fall 2026:
August 4, 2026 through August 21, 2026

What is the Advance Bookstore Purchase program (ABPP)?

If you need additional books and/or supplies or are not eligible to participate in First Day Ready, The Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPS) allows you to charge books and supplies at the FGCU bookstore using your financial aid before it is paid. To participate, your financial aid file must be complete and you must have sufficient financial aid funds available to cover the purchase.

ABPP is not additional financial aid. Using the program does not change the total of your financial aid awards. The exact amount you charge at the bookstore will be added to your student account. By using the ABPP, you are authorizing the Office of Financial Aid to pay your bookstore charges with your financial aid.

Who is eligible for this program?

If a student total financial aid award amount for the semester exceeds all institutional charges on the student's account (including, but not limited to tuition, fees, campus housing, and meals), they may utilize this excess aid to purchase their course related books and supplies.

How do I check my balance available to use in the bookstore?

Login to Gulfline

To view the amount of financial aid available for use through the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP):

  1. Log in to Gulfline.
  2. From the menu, select Personal Information.
  3. Click eAccounts to open the web application.
  4. Locate the Fin Aid line. Your current available bookstore balance will be displayed.

You can access your available balance through the eAccounts web application on a computer or by using the eAccounts mobile app on your smartphone or tablet. In either version, the Fin Aid balance reflects the amount currently available for eligible bookstore purchases through the ABPP.

Please note that your available balance may change if there are updates to your financial aid awards or charges posted to your student account.

How much can I spend?

The amount you may spend through the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP) depends on your student account balance, as well as the amount and type of financial aid you are scheduled to receive.

Beginning Summer 2025, eligible students may charge up to $600 in course-related books and supplies through the ABPP using their anticipated excess financial aid. All university financial obligations, including tuition, fees, housing, meal plans, and other institutional charges, must be satisfied first before excess aid can be made available for bookstore purchases.

Important: Your eligibility and available spending amount may change after approval if additional charges are posted to your student account or if your financial aid eligibility or award amounts change. Students are responsible for monitoring their account and available balance throughout the ABPP period.

The current amount available for bookstore purchases can be viewed through the eAccounts web application or the eAccounts mobile app.

What can I spend this money on?

Funds available through the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP) may be used to purchase required course materials and academic supplies from the FGCU Bookstore, including:

  • Textbooks (new, used, rental, or digital, as available)
  • Course-related materials
  • Required instructional supplies associated with your classes

Purchases must be related to your academic coursework and are subject to bookstore policies and available financial aid eligibility.

Students are encouraged to purchase only the materials necessary for their enrolled courses to ensure that sufficient financial aid funds remain available to cover any remaining educational expenses.

How does this service work?

To participate in the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP), you must have an active Eagle ID, either as a physical Eagle ID card or through Eagle ID Mobile, FGCU's mobile credential available on supported smartphone devices.

If you are eligible for the program, your available bookstore spending amount will be associated with your Eagle ID account. When making purchases at the FGCU Bookstore, you may present your physical Eagle ID card or use your Eagle ID Mobile credential to access your available financial aid funds for eligible purchases.

The amount charged for books, course materials, and required supplies will be posted to your student account. You can view these charges by logging in to Gulfline and accessing the Bill & Payment Center. When your financial aid is disbursed, it will be applied to your student account, including any bookstore charges made through the ABPP.

Important: If you make enrollment changes or experience changes to your financial aid eligibility that reduce the amount of aid you receive, you remain responsible for any bookstore charges incurred through the ABPP. Any purchases made using the program are your financial responsibility, regardless of subsequent changes to your aid eligibility or enrollment status.

Can I use this service for online purchases from the University Bookstore?

Yes. Eligible students can use the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP) to purchase course materials through the FGCU Bookstore online.

When checking out, select Financial Aid as your payment method. You will be prompted to enter your 16-digit Eagle ID card numberDo not enter your University Identification Number (UIN).

The 16-digit Eagle ID number can be found:

  • On the bottom of a physical FGCU Eagle ID card (for students who have been issued a card).
  • In the eAccounts web application under the Card Services section.
  • All Eagle ID card numbers are 16-digits in length and begin with the number 6.

Once your purchase is completed, the bookstore charges will be posted to your student account and paid from your eligible financial aid when it is disbursed.

Note: The 16-digit Eagle ID card number is different from your University Identification Number (UIN). When making online bookstore purchases using Financial Aid, you must use your 16-digit Eagle ID card number.

Can I use the service to rent textbooks from the University Bookstore?

Yes. Eligible students may use funds available through the Advance Book Purchasing Program (ABPP) to pay for textbook rental fees at the FGCU Bookstore.

Please note that the bookstore requires a valid credit or debit card to be kept on file for all rental transactions. This card serves as a guarantee and may be charged by the bookstore if a rented textbook is not returned by the due date, is returned in damaged condition, or is lost.

Rental charges paid through the ABPP will be posted to your student account and paid from your eligible financial aid when it is disbursed.

Important: Students remain responsible for complying with all textbook rental terms and conditions established by the FGCU Bookstore, including return deadlines and replacement costs for unreturned, lost, or damaged rental materials.

I tried to use my financial aid in the bookstore and I was denied. Why?

The most common reasons are:

  1. Financial Aid requirements have not been met. Check “My Requirements” under the Financial Aid Overview  in Gulfline for any outstanding items.
  2. You do not have enough financial aid to create an overage
  3. You are not registered for enough credit hours to qualify for the financial aid awarded
  4. You have not accepted your loans
  5. Recent Changes to Your Account
Changes to your enrollment, housing, meal plan, tuition, fees, or financial aid awards may have reduced or eliminated the amount of financial aid available for bookstore purchases.
  6. ABPP Availability Period Has Ended
The Advance Book Purchasing Program is only available during the designated program dates for the semester. Transactions attempted outside of that period will be declined.
