Active Learning Symposium

SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL

Application Deadline: November 4, 2019

The second annual Southwest Florida Symposium on Teaching and Learning is a collaboration between FGCU’s Lucas Center and FSW’s Teaching and Learning Center. This year’s symposium will focus on the myriad ways in which faculty design, enact, and assess active learning approaches in their classrooms. “Active learning is generally defined as any instructional method that engages students in the learning process. In short, active learning requires students to do meaningful learning activities and think about what they are doing” (Prince, 2004). We welcome proposals from all faculty who support active learning approaches.

We encourage applications from all faculty, adjunct and staff who are:

  1. using active learning approaches in their classrooms, or
  2. interested in leading a roundtable discussion on an active learning topic.

All sessions will be 50 minutes in length to allow adequate time for demonstrations and discussions.

If you have any questions please contact: FGCU Lucas Center at lucascenter@fgcu.edu or FSW TLC at tlc@fsw.edu.
