A Fall Full of AI-Inspired Strategies for Student Success

This fall, the Digital Learning department invited faculty to explore how AI can support student success, one bite-sized session at a time. Through our three-part Edubites Fall AI 2025 series, instructional designers shared quick, practical, and engaging ideas for using AI in ways that promote student success.

Each 20-minute session offered actionable strategies and resources to help students use AI as a partner in their learning - as a study buddy, a writing companion, or for time management support. These sessions weren't just about AI as a tool but ways to empower students to develop their agency for learning both in and out of the classroom.

September: Trail Mix Tutors - AI as a Study Buddy

In September's session, AI as a Study Buddy, we looked at how students are already using AI tools to support their learning - creating flashcards, managing study schedules, and building practice quizzes. We discussed how faculty can harness these strategies to extend learning beyond the classroom while being mindful of potential tradeoffs like overreliance.

Pumpkin Spice Drafts - AI for Writing Confidence

In October’s session, we focused on helping students move past writer’s block by using AI as a low stakes brainstorming and drafting partner. Faculty explored ways to guide students from AI-generated ideas to original work, fostering writing confidence while upholding academic integrity.

A Taste of Time - Supporting Time Management with Copilot

In November’s session, Supporting Time Management with Copilot we explored how Copilot can help students plan their time more effectively. From breaking down assignments to creating personalized schedules, we explored strategies for using AI to support students in developing sustainable academic routines.
