Update to Salary Ranges Related to Minimum Wage Increases
Dear FGCU Community,
In response to the state of Florida’s minimum wage increases, the university is implementing updates to certain salary ranges to ensure continued compliance and alignment with requirements.
As a reminder, Florida’s minimum wage increased to $14 per hour, effective September 30, 2025, and it is scheduled to increase again to $15 per hour, effective September 30, 2026. To support this transition and maintain a sustainable compensation structure, the university has completed a review of impacted pay grades.
Overview of Changes
As a result of this review, the following adjustments will be implemented:
- Consolidation of Pay Grades 11 and 12
- Grades 11 and 12 will be combined into a single Grade 12. This updated range reflects the new state minimum wage and provides a consistent structure moving forward.
- Adjustments to Pay Grades 13-15
- Salary ranges for Grades 13, 14 and 15 have been adjusted to maintain appropriate progression across the structure.
Salary Structure
The updated minimum salary for each pay grade is listed below:
- Grade 12: $15 per hour
- Grade 13: $16.50 per hour
- Grade 14: $18 per hour
- Grade 15: $19.42 per hour
FGCU maintains a market-based compensation program, and employee compensation was reviewed using this framework. As part of the transition to the new Grade 12, the university reviewed the compensation impact of employees previously in Grade 11 and confirmed that current pay rates already exceed the updated minimum thresholds. As a result, no pay adjustments are necessary at this time. These salary range updates will take effect January 18, 2026. Additional information will be provided directly to employees if their positions are impacted by these changes.
Thank you for your continued dedication to FGCU as the university implements required changes in response to minimum wage requirements.

Total Rewards goes beyond base pay and includes compensation, benefits, paid leave and other programs the university provides in support of your well-being and professional success.
Total Rewards Statement
Your Total Rewards statement provides a comprehensive view of the university’s investment in you and includes:
- Your base salary
- Additional earnings related to allowances and stipends
- FGCU’s contributions to your health and life insurance cost
- Retirement plan contributions made by FGCU on your behalf
- The value of paid time off and holidays
Access Total Rewards in Workday
The “Benefits and Pay Hub” in Workday provides real-time, self-service access to your Total Rewards information, including your Total Rewards statement. This modern, mobile-friendly experience enables you to view your information anytime and anywhere.
Total Rewards Estimator is a Recruitment Tool
We have also launched a Total Rewards estimator to support recruitment efforts. This tool helps job candidates understand the estimated salary, benefits and leave value associated with positions at the university.
These new tools reflect our continued investment in our people and our commitment to clearly communicating the many ways the university supports its employees.
Human Resources is offering open lab sessions where employees can see demonstrations of the tools, ask questions and receive assistance navigating the new features. Register through Workday.
If you have any questions about your statement or would like to discuss your benefits, contact Human Resources at hr@fgcu.edu or (239) 590-1400.

Integrating FGCU’s Institution Values Into Position Descriptions
Dear FGCU Staff and Faculty,
At FGCU, our institutional values of Curiosity, Commitment and Collaboration embody the spirit, culture, principles and behaviors we strive to embrace as faculty and staff. These values guide our decision making, shape our campus culture and connect us in our shared purpose to serve our students and community.
To further integrate these values into our daily work, FGCU will begin incorporating them into job postings and position descriptions. Beginning this semester, you will notice updates in our standard templates, including:
- A values section in job postings that highlights our values and the environment we strive to create.
- A new “Institutional Values & Behavioral Expectations” section in job descriptions outlining how curiosity, commitment and collaboration are demonstrated in each role.
- Updated skills and ability language that connects position requirements to our core values.
These changes are designed to ensure our values are reflected not only in what we do, but in how we do it.
