CAN @ FGCU Wins 2021-2022 Team Excellence Awards

     Members of the Community Autism Network @FGCU were presented with the 2021-2022 Team Excellence Awards at the 25th Annual Celebration of Excellence that took place on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Alico Arena.

   CAN’s collaboration as an interdisciplinary team has made a significant impact on our University and the community. Its members represent several Colleges (Marieb College of Health & Human Services, College of Education, and College of Arts & Sciences), Departments (Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Department of Counseling, Department of Social Work, and Department of Psychology), and Programs/disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, School Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, and Psychology) across campus.

   CAN has provided services through more than 250 hours of manualized and empirically validated group interventions, hosted nearly 200 guests at community events, mentored 6 undergraduate and 24 graduate students, published 5 peer-reviewed articles, funded 18 FGCU student researchers, and has proven community support with $360,000 in extramural funding and more than $13,000 in intramural funding.
