Student Spotlight of the Week

September 28, 2020  / Tags: Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Student Spotlight, Physical Therapy, DPT Student

This week's Student Spotlight goes to second year DPT student, Savannah McAloose. Savannah was born in South Carolina, soon after moved to Indiana, but has lived in Estero, FL since 2000. Savannah chose PT because she participated in her brother, Hunter's physical therapy when he was in Elementary School. She liked how the physical therapists made therapy fun for him and involved her whole family in his recovery process. She has an interest in health and wellness, and physical therapy allows her to focus on that not only for herself, but she is able to help improve the quality of life of her patients. Savannah says she is not sure what population she would like to work with yet, but is excited to do her upcoming clinicals in a neuro setting and her following one in an Acute Pediatric hospital.

In her downtime, Savannah likes to play games with her family and friends. Some games that she enjoys playing are Nertz, Mexican Train, Phase 10, and code names. She has been doing weekly game nights with her family on Zoom playing JackBox games. She also enjoys eating and trying new restaurants around town with one of her new favorite places being Aux Delices. A fun fact about Savannah is that she hosted a foreign exchange student from France before starting PT school. Savannah is planning to do her last clinical in Colorado, she thinks it is a beautiful place and loves the active lifestyle. She has been a few times to visit her Aunt in Colorado Springs. Last time she was there she biked down Pikes Peak, saying it was one of the coolest experiences she ever had.
