Student Spotlight of the Week

August 24, 2020  / Tags: Physical Therapy, Student Spotlight, Sports Medicine, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences

This week’s Student Spotlight goes to Suanny Zamora! Suanny is a first year Physical Therapy Student that is originally from Bogota, Colombia. She moved to Orlando with her family when she was 5 years old and is currently living in Fort Myers to attend school. Suanny chose Physical Therapy because she has been a competitive swimmer for most of her life, which eventually caused her to have issues with her shoulder that required her to see a physical therapist herself. She went into college thinking she would go into Sports Medicine and pursue an MD. That plan shifted when she had the opportunity to shadow a PT and enjoyed seeing patients consistently and being a part of their rehabilitation process. She finds that using exercise as medicine with minimal side effects is a large part of why she chose this profession. Suanny is a group fitness instructor and loves to teach HIIT, Bootcamp, and Indoor Cycling! The next certification she is hoping to earn is in TRX! She loves to travel and had the opportunity to visit Australia last year. If she is not exercising or studying, Suanny loves to be outdoors! She enjoys competing in obstacle course races. She tries to go camping with her family about twice a year and looks forward to exploring some of the state parks nearby!
