Student Spotlight of the Week

February 08, 2021  / Tags: Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Exercise Science, Student Spotlight

This week’s Student Spotlight goes to Exercise Science Student, Luis Ruiz. Luis likes to go on hikes, spend time outside, and hang out with friends and family. He chose to major in Exercise Science because he has always loved and played sports. “Exercising has done so much for me, physically and mentally, and I want to spread that to as many people as I can” Luis says. Once Luis graduates, he plans to attend physical therapy school in order to pursue his dream career of become a licensed physical therapist and is interested in pediatrics as well as the sports side of physical therapy. He chose physical therapy because he has always tried to help his teammates whenever they would get hurt on one of his sports teams. He says, “there is a great satisfaction in helping others and in physical therapy, you go along for the ride with your patients and it is the best thing ever”. Luis started shadowing at a physical therapy clinic and believes that the shadowing has increased his desire and drive to become a physical therapist.
