Student Spotlight of the Week

March 04, 2021  / Tags: Physical Therapy Student, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Student Spotlight, Physical Therapy

This week, our Student Spotlight goes to first year Physical Therapy student, Emily Hauff. Emily is a local to Southwest Florida, and current lives in Cape Coral. She was born and raised in the area but moved to Orlando for her undergraduate degree, and moved back to the SWFL area attend DPT school at FGCU. She chose PT because it’s something she always knew she wanted to do, being in a family built in healthcare. She knew she did not want to pursue a career as a first responder or nurse and found that PT was the perfect fit because it encompasses her love of fitness, people, and healthcare. Emily was a rehab tech before starting PT school and enjoyed being able to work alongside PTs so much so that it reaffirmed that PT was her future career. Emily is currently undecided on what setting she wants to work in, but is interested in working with the geriatric population. When she’s not in classes or studying, you can find Emily kayaking, playing tennis, at a theme park with friends, or spending time with her dog Bentley. A fun fact about Emily is that she loves elephants and her dream is to someday visit an elephant sanctuary to learn more about them and help save the species!
