The Department of Economics and Finance's new concentration in Financial Services has already begun sowing student success. May 2020 graduate Nicole Emery contacted mentor Dr. Steve Fraser with exciting news: She passed the notoriously difficult CFP exam.

Thank you for your help in preparing me for both this exam and career path!

I feel the courses at FGCU really gave me a strong foundation on the material. The test itself was difficult, but there may have only been a few minor concepts tested that I wasn't familiar with from my FGCU studies and most of my exam prep was review.

I am extremely grateful that the financial services concentration was available to me and encourage others completing the program to sit for the exam.

CFP Board

The CFP exam is a rigorous test leading to certification as a Certified Financial Planner. Those who earn the certification have met extensive training, experience, and ethical standards and are highly sought after by firms and clients. According to the CFP Board, only 65% of September 2020 candidates passed the exam.
