School of Resort & Hospitality Management Receives ACPHA Reaccreditation
On March 11, 2021, the School of Resort & Hospitality Management (SRHM) in the Lutgert College of Business received official renewal of its accredited status with the Accreditation Commission for Programs of Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). The period of accreditation is for seven years, from Summer 2019 until the next renewal in Summer 2026.
SRHM was highly commended in the ACPHA Commission letter, which stated:
The Commission wishes to commend the School for their exceptional job of meeting all of the key elements in the ACPHA Standards of Accreditation. In particular, it was noted that the program met all ACPHA Criteria during a challenging time while dealing with the COVID virus situation and the difficulties that were encountered to offer the program during the past year.
SRHM enrolled its first students in 2003 and awarded its first degrees in 2007. The school has served the resort and hospitality industry in the Southwest Florida region and beyond by its engagement with leaders through their Advisory Board and other channels to adapt to an evolving industry and business environment. Many graduates of the school have advanced successfully to hold top positions in exciting and rewarding hospitality careers.
The accreditation of SRHM is the result of the devoted efforts of its supporters, administrative leadership, faculty, staff, advisory boards, and students. Through the leadership of the school’s new Director, Dr. Catherine Curtis (who comes to FGCU from Oklahoma State University), SRHM is expected to soar to even greater heights as a recognized leader in hospitality education.
SHRM is now one of the few schools in the country to be accredited by both leading accrediting bodies in hospitality and business.
