At FGCU, achieving a Master's in Accounting and Taxation (M.S.) without a Bachelor's degree in accounting is now simpler and more affordable than ever. Most institutions require an additional 15-25 credits of prerequisites before starting your Master's Degree. FGCU has developed a 4 course pathway to make a fast and low-cost ways to get your degree and get you ready for the CPA exam.

 

Accounting Pathway Curriculum

If you are interested perusing your Master's in Accounting, but you do not have an undergraduate degree in accounting, students will need to take the following 4 courses before starting their 30 credit Master's degree. 

  • ACG 5005 Graduate Financial Accounting
  • ACG 5367 Graduate Cost Accounting
  • TAX 5005 Graduate Taxation 1
  • ACG 5627 Systems Auditing

Every course is designed to prepare you for the CPA exam and a successful career in accounting, auditing, taxation, fraud, and more.

Complete program in only 30 credit hours (less than 2 years) and helping you meet the 150 credit hour requirement to sit for the CPA exam.

This program offers a balanced approach to accounting and taxation. Many jobs that will exist 5 to 10 years from now do not exist today. Thus, the focus is not just on advanced technical competence in accounting and/or taxation, the effective use of technology in research and practice, effective communications with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, and ethical responsibilities but also on the development of life-long learning skills to maintain professional competence.

Students may also elect a concentration in analytics. The analytics concentration includes courses in Business Analytics, Big Data and Data Mining, Business Intelligence (BI) and Visualization.
